German chancellor Dr Angela Merkel made a state visit to India from 1 – 3 November 2019. Philipp Bayat, Chairman of the Executive Board of the BAUER GROUP, was part of the business delegation.

The Indo-German intergovernmental consultations focused on collaboration in business, science and technology. Germany and India aim to establish more in-depth cooperation over numerous future-facing topics. The two countries, said Merkel, intend to foster their close relationship in the fields of sustainable development and climate protection. She noted that India’s CO2 emission levels are relatively low, but pointed out the need for future industrial development to be as sustainable as possible.

At the CEO Round Table, attended by the German chancellor and by Prime Minister Modi alongside high-ranking German and Indian government and business representatives, Philipp Bayat  spoke on behalf of Germany’s SME sector in his capacity as a supplier of cutting-edge technology products. He described his experiences in public tenders and outlined the situation regarding skilled workers in India. Mr Bayat’s words were noted with great interest by the Indian government.
