B-DETECTION BASIC online gas measuring system for high-pressure applications
Designed as a permanently installed measurement system for online monitoring of CO2, CO and O2 in compressed breathing air. There is also the option of measuring the dew point and thereby displaying the absolute humidity in accordance with DIN EN 12021:2014.
If the measuring system is used with a compressor with B-CONTROL, the measured values can be saved with the B-CONTROL data logger and downloaded to a computer easily via SD card (B-CONTROL MICRO) or USB stick (B-CONTROL II) for output in Excel.

Electrochemical sensors (CO and O2) require a certain level of gas quality in terms of humidity, pressure and temperature to ensure they function to their full potential. In fact, if the gas treatment is incorrect or even lacking, this can significantly reduce the service life of the sensors. For this reason, if the B-DETECTION is in continual use for over an hour, BAUER recommends the use of an optional humidity membrane to ensure the sensors are able to run to maximum capacity.
Pressure reduction unit
The pressure reduction unit allows the measuring instrument to be connected to high-pressure lines. Depending on the control type of the high-pressure compressor, the option of a suitable pressure reduction unit is also available to limit the system inlet pressure with a solenoid valve (for systems with B-CONTROL) or ball valve (hard-wired control). In the case of the solenoid valve option, this is controlled by the compressor unit.
Ambient air pump
An additional pump installed within the measuring instrument makes it possible to check the gas composition of the intake air. For an overall CO2 content of 430 ppm or more in the intake air, we recommend using an AERO-GUARD CO2 absorber.
CO2 flushing valve
The CO2 concentration in the compressed breathing air within the filter container usually corresponds to the concentration in the ambient air. These values may differ when inserting new filter cartridges (as CO2 is adsorbed from the air by the molecular sieve for a short time) and in the event of a pressure drop within the filter container. If the pressure should drop – which typically happens when switching off each compressor – the CO2 content in the filter container increases. When switching the compressor back on, the accumulated air with its increased CO2 content is then flushed out of the filter container. To avoid increased CO2 values in the compressed breathing air, we recommend flushing the compressor unit – i.e. draining the compressed air to the outside by opening the flushing valve – for approximately 2 minutes before connecting and filling the compressed air cylinders. As not all high-pressure compressors have a flushing valve for discharging increased CO2 values included in the standard scope of delivery, BAUER offers the option to retrofit this type of equipment.
Automatic bleed unit
The bleed unit allows compressor units to flush automatically by redirecting compressed air into the surrounding atmosphere.
If the CO2 values in the compressed air are too high during the compressor start phase, B-DETECTION is suppressed from switching off the compressor and the compressed air is routed into the surrounding atmosphere via a silencer for a fixed period. If there is still no improvement in the air values several minutes, the compressor then switches off.
